Mummies of the World at Discovery Place
The Mummies are coming! Mummies of the World, the largest exhibition of mummies and related artifacts ever assembled, makes its southern U.S. premiere at Discovery Place on 11.11.11. This compelling collection, presented with reverence and dignity, includes ancient mummies and important artifacts from Asia, Oceania, South America, Europe, as well as ancient Egypt, dating as far back as 6,500 years. The Sixteenth Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Charlotte Goes Green Festival will take place on Saturday, March 17, 2012. Over 60,000 spectators watched Charlotte’s Fifteenth Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade as it marched through the heart of Charlotte to the sound of pipes and the cheers of the spectators lining the streets. The combination of flags, floats, kids, and pipe band music made everyone smile and be Irish for a day. The Sixteenth Annual Parade promises to be even bigger and better!
We expect that the 2012 Charlotte Goes Green Festival will be our biggest and most attended yet. There will be something for everyone of all ages to enjoy. The Festival is located on S. Tryon St. between 1st St & 3rd St.The festival hours are 10AM – 6:30PM and features Irish music, Irish dancers, bagpipers, food, vendors and plenty of beverages. There is no admission fee to attend. 9th annual Miller Lite Weekend Warrior Flag Football Tournament
The Carolina Panthers will host the ninth annual Miller Lite Weekend Warrior Flag Football Tournament on March 31 and April 1 at Bank of America Stadium and the team's practice fields. The two-day, non-contact tournament is for ages 21 and older and features four skill divisions: Weekend Warrior, Couch Potato, 35 & Over, and Matt & Ramona Co-Ed.
Registration fee is $300 per team, and tournament proceeds will benefit Carolina Panthers Charities. Registration deadline is March 9, 2012 and is on a first-come, first-served basis. The tournament has sold out every year, so teams are encouraged to register early. REGISTER TODAY!

Carry the Jerry and Basic 5K
In addition to a USATF certified 5K, the Carry the Jerry Relay is a race made up of max 5-person teams who and can either run or walk while carrying a water-filled Jerry Can. Participants will organize their own teams in advance and are comprised of family, friends, fellow athletes, sports teammates, etc.
A "Jerry Can" is a 5-gallon plastic jug (weighing 42 pounds) that African women and children carry 3-4 miles daily to collect water. Identify with the daily hardship of the African Sudan family and support Water is Basic's mission to drill a thriving, clean water well in every village in South Sudan. T
he USATF Certified 5K course runs through Uptown Charlotte into South End and starts and finishes at the Panther Stadium. This year's race is apart of the TrySport Inspire Race Series, encouraging Charlotte to stay active in 2012.
