Son accused of elderly mother's murder apprehended

A Charlotte man was apprehended Monday night in connection with the apparent beating death of his elderly mother.
Police have charged 56-year-old Jerry Allen Heath with first degree murder and armed robbery.
A police statement said Heath assaulted his 83-year-old mother, Annie Sutton Heath, during an argument this morning at an apartment on Geraldine Powe Drive.
The statement said Heath demanded money from his mother, who refused.
Officers said Annie Heath died from apparent blunt force trauma.
