Train Kills Two Nursing Home Residents Kannapolis

Two men from Britthaven Nursing Home were killed when a train struck both of them Friday evening.
The crash happened near the intersection of East 18th Street and North Main Street around 6 p.m.
The train left Charlotte and was on its way to Raleigh at the time of the wreck. There were 100 passengers on board, but none of the passengers were injured. A little more than two hours later the train continued onto Raleigh.
Police say the victims were ages 52 and 39, they quote witnesses who say the younger man was kneeling on the tracks and the older man was trying to pull him off when they were hit.
The nursing home said that residents are free to come and go as they please, unless they are restricted for some specific reason.
