Anson County Sheriff Tommy Allen says the victims in a small plane crash have now been identified.  The pilot died in the crash and one other person was injured.

Allen says that 57-year-old Steven P. Reamer of Marriotsville, Md., died in Thursday's crash about 500 feet short of the runway at Anson County Airport. The plane had taken off about 90 miles north at Piedmont Triad International Airport.

Allen says Reamer's 54-year-old wife, Pamela, was taken to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte in serious condition.

Witnesses told officials it looked like the plane was trying to land when it crashed. Allen says flight plans show the couple was traveling to Florida.

The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the crash.
