Sometimes the most practical wisdom is the best wisdom of all. I heard this practical wisdom the other day that I thought was priceless and wanted to share it with you today.
Here it is: "If you argue with an idiot, there are at least two idiots in the room."
Isn't that true? How many of us spend far too much time arguing with someone who simply doesn't think clearly. They hold a wrong position about something. We then spend too much energy trying to convince them of an obvious truth and they refuse to see it. As a result, we become exhausted.
We're probably the real idiot in the situation! Why we keep expending precious energy trying to convince an idiot of a position he'll never accept is idiocy!
Let them believe what they want to believe. Walk away! Use your energy for thoughtful people who will actually use your insights to grow and learn.
After all, if you argue with an idiot, there are at least two idiots in the room!
