Moment Of Hope

Moment of Hope, Tuesday, May 14

One of the most dangerous exercises any one of us can undertake is to compare ourselves with other people.  It's exhausting.  It never ends.  It practically always leads to some form of discouragement.

Moreover, when you compare yourself to other people, you are essentially saying to God, "I don't really like the way you created me.  I don't really care for the unique person you made me to be!"

Who would ever want to say such audacious challenges to the Almighty!  No sane person would.

The truth is every single one of us is uniquely, fearfully and wonderfully made. We are a masterpiece, the Master's piece of work, unlike anyone else in the whole universe.  Therefore, to compare ourselves with another person is indeed us saying to God, "You did a poor job when you made me.  I don't like your work one bit."

Stop doing it.  It's useless!  And claim for yourself the special place you have in God's great world.
