President Obama will now deliver his renomination speech at Time Warner Cable Arena, Democratic convention organizers said Wednesday.
The threat of severe weather during Thursday's speech prompted the move from Bank of America Stadium, where the president and Vice-President Biden were scheduled to accept renomination.
"We have decided to move... to ensure the safety and security of our delegates and convention guests," convention committee CEO Steve Kerrigan said in a statement.
The move likely means those holding "community credentials" to see the president's speech at the stadium will not able to see the arena speech.
More than 65,000 of the credentials were given out to campaign volunteers and other members of the public. The arena has 15,000 seats after convention renovations removed some seats.
