The Home Improvement Show on WBT celebrates 15 years as a Charlotte area staple.
When John Gordon, director
of Sales and Services marketing at The Home Depot, took a few questions about
home improvement fifteen years ago on WBT
radio in Charlotte, N.C., he had no idea it would lead to a weekly on-air
gig.
Now John, and his long time
radio partner David Dovell, who is a licensed General Contractor, spend part of
each Saturday as hosts of the station’s popular “The Home Improvement Show.” What has made the show so successful is the caller driven
format. Each Saturday for 2 hours John
and Dave entertain questions from the Charlotte Metro area and beyond pertaining
to home repair, remodeling and maintenance.
The feedback John and Dave
get from listeners is that they have “dared” to do projects they would not
otherwise have undertaken. At times
however, the guys recommend that a caller “not try this at home” and instead,
call a professional.
Combined, John and Dave
bring over 50 years of experience in the construction and building materials
industry. They have a passion for
learning about new products and building techniques and sharing that information
with listeners. Their love for home
improvement is the reason they so willingly give up their free time every week
to help thousands of homeowners in Charlotte and the surrounding counties.
While the caller driven
format is the key to the success of the show, John and Dave do, from time to
time, invite local home improvement product and service providers on the air to
discuss topics that are of particular interest to their audience.
Celebrating 15 successful
years in the 10-noon time slot on Saturdays is a testimony to the fact that
these guys have a ton of home improvement wisdom (and some occasional wit) and
that Charlotte area home owners have a ton of home improvement questions that
need answers. John and Dave thank their
loyal callers/listeners for making them one of the longest running radio shows
in town.
