The entertainment industry lost two of their own unexpectedly over the holiday weekend.

Willard Scott, the longtime presenter and weatherman most notably on NBC’s Today show, passed away on Saturday. He was 87.

Scott joined NBC in 1980, and was remembered for birthday well-wishes to fans of the program turning 100. He was also influential to many in broadcasting including Al Roker, who took over for Scott as the main weatherman for Today.

Michael K. Williams, a roughneck actor who played Omar Little on HBO’s smash hit “The Wire,” was found dead on Monday. According to a report from the NYPD, Williams passed away from a suspected heroin overdose in his Brooklyn apartment. He was 54.

Dr. Robert Thompson talked about the respective careers of both Scott and Williams on WBT’s Bo Thompson Morning Show on Tuesday.
