About The Team...

  • Bo Thompson
    Bo started at WBT in 1990 as an intern for Mike Collins. Throughout high school and college he worked part-time at WBT and over the years, he's worked with everyone from Henry Boggan to Keith Larson. In 1997 he was apart of the Production Team that launched Charlotte's Morning News with Al Gardner. He was Creative Services Director for WBT from 1997 to 2005 and in that time he was a part in launching every major show.

    John is a veteran member of the WBT news staff. He can be heard each morning providing many Charlotteans with their first news of the day as he anchors WBT's morning newscasts. John graduated from the University of Nebraska, and is a big Huskers sports fan. During his years at WBT, he has won numerous awards for his coverage of news events that have affected the WBT listening area. John lives with his family in Charlotte.

    Jim Szoke

    Sports Anchor

    Jim Szoke has been with WBT for two extended periods of time. He started with WBT in 1989, and served as Sports Director from 1990-2000. Jim returned as Sports Director in June 2005 as part of Charlotte's Morning News with Al Gardner, Stacey Simms and Bo Thompson. He has served as a color commentator and pregame host for the Carolina Panthers since their inception in 1995, having broadcasted every game in franchise history.
