Tiger Woods has been injured in a rollover car accident, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department says on Tuesday.

The golfer was removed from the vehicle with the “jaws of life” tools, according to authorities. Woods was taken to a hospital with unspecified injuries.

A KABC-TV helicopter over the scene of Woods’ accident showed a car on its side with the front end heavily damaged with air bags being deployed. The wreckage appeared to be just off the side of a road on a hillside in Ranchos Palos Verdes, Calif. at Hawthorne Blvd near Blackhorse Road.

Woods was the sole occupant of the vehicle at the time of the accident.

Woods’ agent Mark Steinberg released a statement saying, “Tiger Woods was in a single-car accident this morning in California where he suffered multiple leg injuries. He is currently in surgery and we thank you for your privacy and support.”
