The Panthers spent their first two picks in the NFL Draft addressing the hole in the middle of their defensive line. After selecting Star Lotulelei of Utah with their first pick, the Panthers came back and took Kawann Short of Purdue in the 2nd round. With the Boilermakers, Short was first-team All-Big 10 and 2nd team All-American as a senior after collecting seven sacks and 15 tackles for loss.
Along with veterans Dwan Edwards and Colin Cole, the two rookies have formed a nice rotation that has led to a marked improvement of the defensive tackle position.
However as he enters his 3rd NFL game, Short is still waiting to experience victory on a Sunday and you can hear my interview with the Panthers rookie below. The Panthers host the New York Giants Sunday on WBT, with the Stadium Show at 10 am and kickoff just after 1 pm.
