Spokesperson says, 'passed gas' forces passengers off plane at RDU airport

All passengers were forced off of an American Airlines plane Sunday afternoon in Raleigh after a person "passed gas," officials said. 

According to officials with Raleigh-Durham International Airport, the incident happened when the flight landed at 4 p.m.

Passengers on the flight said they became ill with nausea and headaches, officials said, and all passengers were removed from the plane. 

Officials said after the incident was investigated, they determined that a passenger "passed gas" on the flight. 

According to authorities, the incident was a medical related call and directed all questions to Wake County EMS. 

Officials with RDU did not identify where the plane was flying in from, its destination or what type of plane was involved in the incident.
