Second arrest made in Charlotte murder case

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit have charged a second suspect, 35 year old Shenika Yvonne James, with the murder of Jarel D’Shaun Grace

As a result of information and evidence gathered during the investigation, detectives obtained warrants on James for Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, 3 counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury, and 2 counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill. 

James turned herself in to the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office in South Carolina, where she remains in custody.  Detectives traveled to Clarendon County, SC to interview James.  James will be transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office upon extradition.  The extradition process has already been implemented, but there is no current timetable on James’ return to Mecklenburg County. 

Detectives have already arrested and charged 23 year old James Russell Andrews with the murder of Grace. Andrews is facing charges of  Murder, Armed Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery, 3 counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury, 2 counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon Intent to Kill and Possession of a Firearm by Felon. Andrews is being held in the Mecklenburg County jail.
